For the Kingdom - FAQ's
  • The Bear Valley budget and Move The World amounts given to missions will not decrease.
  • In the longer term the amounts given to missions will increase, because of a stronger church body that is connected, matured and unleashed. Having a fully-functional facility empowers us to continue to accomplish our vision with the next generation.

  • Security will be much improved. Checking in and out will be able to be more controlled.
  • Parents and adults will be better trained to provide spiritual growth for their own children.
  • A wider range of classes can be offered in the new configuration. Both regular and “discipleship” classes can continue and expand.

  • An expansion of meeting areas for youth ministry helps us prepare our youth to face the world.

  • Adult classrooms will now be separate from the (downstairs) children’s area, and will all use “adult-sized” chairs and tables.
  • Some new classrooms may be equipped with seminar-desks to permit class members to be able to write and learn in an easier fashion.
  • We will have some dedicated space for short-term training classes, in addition to the standard long-term Bible Study/ fellowship classes.

Walls will be moved and hallways re-configured to allow:
  • A lower level welcome center (and security center) just inside the door.
  • Babies, young children, grade school, and youth will be grouped in their own areas.
  • The main “youth room” will be enlarged by the removal of the back hallway.
A moveable folding soundproof wall will divide the downstairs gym in half to allow:
  • One half to be for children’s games (padded walls, carpeted floor)
  • The other half to be quieter for adult use:
Large classes (up to 120 people, with a sound system)
Smaller luncheons (in a nice reception hall)
  • The moveable wall can be opened so that the entire lower level gym area can be used for large banquets (as it is now) with a ceiling and sound system.
The counseling center will be moved out of the building for better client privacy.

A very large second floor area will be added over the gym area to allow:
  • 3 new adult classrooms: various sizes for class size flexibility, some with tables.
  • Fireside Room will be the largest of these classrooms. Not only classes, but nicer décor for small weddings and receptions.
  • A central welcome, fellowship and information area enlarges the existing foyer Huge area for fellowship without the push of the foyer crowds. Tables and chairs available to meet visitors and talk over coffee. Congestion in foyer and hallways is greatly reduced. Centralized information area instead of being scattered. Structured places for depositing food items, etc,. for our missions. Two Entrances to the “upper gym” area: one replaces the present window over the gym; another entrance opens by the south door onto Jewell.
An expanded ladies room still conveniently located on central hallway.

The prayer room will be moved to part of the existing Library.
  • Prayer room will have a quieter entrance directly from worship center.
  • North side balcony upgraded for use as outside prayer patio for extended seasons.
  • Remaining Library will be dedicated space for the library (open on Sunday AMs.)

  • We expanded our lease with Carmody Middle School to include their south lot (60 spaces) giving us a total of 420 parking spaces available on Sunday.
  • Our use of the new “People Mover” bus as a shuttle to the Carmody lots is working well.
  • We expect to gain additional parking at the new Shopping Building in the fall of 2008.
  • The cost for a two-level parking garage on our own lot would be $2M - That is out of sight!

  • Bear Valley is a healthy church with no declining membership.
  • Bear Valley people are younger than they were 20 years ago.
  • If a church waits too long before upgrading its facility, people start leaving and visitors do not come back. It is much wiser to prevent such a decline than to wait and attempt to reverse it!

  • To maximize the spiritual effectiveness of BVC by upgrading the function and usability of this facility for now current and future generations.
  • To create a better place for people to connect and spend time together.
  • To provide needed classroom space upstairs with state of the art technology for teaching God’s precepts and performing a multitude of ministry opportunities for His Kingdom.
