
Senior Adult and City Missions Pastor
Howard Waller began his ministry at Bear Valley Church in 2001. He is currently
senior adult and outreach pastor.
He and his wife Connie also direct
Straight Ahead Colorado, which is Christian oriented ministries within youth
detention facilities in Colorado. For the past six years, they have worked with juvenile offenders in
Colorado facilities, especially at Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center. Howard
has been involved in restorative justice since 1994, when he was invited to the White
House where he received an award from the President of the United States. He and his
wife worked with the Colorado Department of Corrections to establish the John Inman
Work and Family Center in Denver (a reintegration project for ex-offenders). While
Howard was on staff with Prison Fellowship Ministries he was state director for Angel
Tree and was involved in the Interfaith Initiative in Texas and Iowa. He had a 20-year
career in banking as a commercial loan officer and marketing vice president. Connie and
Howard have three children and four grandchildren. Howard's hobbies include golf, flying and
traveling with his wife.
At Bear Valley Howard works with dozens of volunteers to provide numerous
programs to the seniors. These include Bible studies, monthly luncheons, trips,
special programs and various other opportunities for seniors. As outreach pastor
he is the staff liaison to inner city ministries, local ministries and special mission
projects throughout the US. Howard also directs a mission trip each year to another
country. In the last three years he has taken three mission teams to Uganda
to assist with the Hines Uganda Ministry. Howard serves on several boards and speaks at
various functions throughout the year.
