The multi-housing ministry
Hi, I'm LuAnn Turner, the Small Group and Multi-Housing pastor at BVC. I can help you network and
connect with others of similar interests, age groupings and stages of life. If you are interested
in hosting a small group in your home or leading a small group, I am the person to talk to. You can
reach me at the church office at 303 985-4000 or .
The Bear Valley multi-housing outreach is an extension of our small group ministry. It is estimated
that approximately 95% of apartment dwellers have no church connections. Therefore, it is our goal to
take church to apartment and retirement communities in our neighborhoods, in obedience to Matthew 28:19
& 29, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations."
We do this by touching lives with the kindness of Christ, by providing Bible study/churches at each
site, and by one-on-one mentoring.
More information is available on our Multi-Housing
Ministry page.
One of the joys we have in outreach to our community is in recognizing how Christ has helped us to minister
right here in Lakewood.
- Delivering welcome baskets to new move-ins
- Organizing sports camps for teens
- Providing craft and book clubs for 4-11's
- Planning holiday celebrations: Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter
- Distributing food boxes when needed
- Helping find help: rent, utilities, transportation, language classes
- Building Community
- Listening
- Caring
- Connecting.
- Meet weekly for fellowship, prayer, fun, sharing and time in the Word.
- Create a safe place to ask questions, be real, support one another, and grow.
- Provide one-to-one spiritual parenting to new believers; encouragement and support to others.
- Invest one-on-one time going deeper in relationship with God, with His Word and with each other, and together reaching out for Christ in their community.
Five truths of multi-housing ministry:
1) "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." It's harvest season and
we are starting over with new events and new schedules at all of our locations.
Many of our kids need someone to give them a sandwich, read them a book, or play
a game with them. Most of them need Jesus - as do their parents, many of whom
are also hanging out, needing someone to give them a box of groceries, listen to
their story, or love their kids.
2) "Jesus didn't say to count the sheep, He said to feed the sheep." This is one
of Cheryl Kaltenbach's frequent reminders to me. If one person shows up, that
person is of such value to God that He sent His son to die so that person could
have life with Him, not just eternally, but abundantly, beginning today. As we
plan events, a logical question is always, "How many do you think will come?"
Our answer is usually, "We have no idea. It could be from zero to 50."
3) Change is constant. People move away. New people move in. This is one of the most difficult
aspects of this ministry for me. We give our hearts to folks, and then they are gone,
sometimes disappearing in the middle of the night. Then we start over. We meet the new
people. We plan different activities. We go back to the beginning, and it is hard.
4) God really, really loves the world. He loves the multitudes of lost souls,
and He loves all of His sheep who have gone astray. I continue to be amazed at
the extent to which He will go to show one person His love for them.
5) God is not dull or boring, and neither are the folks He created! He calls the
life He has for us abundant, and He means it. His Bible stories are not ho-hum
predictable, and neither are the stories He is writing in and through us. We
just have to jump in and watch as He rescues, heals, saves, provides, encourages -
all in ways far more exciting and colorful than we could ever imagine.
Come join us! You will laugh and you will cry. You will pray - and then pray
some more. You will get discouraged and tired, but you will be blessed more than you can even imagine!

Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer
with shelter. when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your
own flesh and blood?
